Dave Oldham began as a high school mathematics teacher in Indiana. His involvement in the local association as chief negotiator, president and UniServ Council delegate led to his seeking a full time UniServ position. After coming to Lorain County in 1976, he helped expand the OEA operations to every district in the three-county area. Local contracts were created, enforced through binding arbitration, and have grown to the comprehensive master contracts now governing and protecting the working conditions of most educators in the area.
